Just to let you guys know I am off tomorrow for a couple of weeks of R&R in France.  Hoping for some sun after all this flippin' rain and wind.  Unfortunately, not on the bike - this is the annual "chill out in a field, drink lots of wine, eat bread and cheese and barbecues, read lots of books and do nothing" fest.

Keep it shiny side up, guys.  Write lots of interesting posts for me to read when I get back.  Ems - pictures!

Cheers all

No pictures - too grey.

Two weeks of rain and wind.  There was one day where the rain cleared up mid-morning and we tootled off on the (push) bikes for a day.  The sun was quite strong, and because it was cool and breezy I didn't bother with sun oil.  Mistake!  I've now peeled back to British Off-White.

Car broke down (air suspension failed) and we had to have a hire car for three days.  The good thing was that my French was up to it - no-one at the dealership or the hire company spoke any English, so it was my schoolboy French all the way, and we survived.  I'm quite proud of that.

Back in the UK, and the weather has been just the same.  Ah well, back to work.  Interesting, stimulating, fulfilling, and all those other words that don't apply.

At least I can read UKBike!

Hey BD you forgot to mention the most important thing!

What about the Wannabe sitting on the back of someone elses bike - I have to say that if that is what touring is all about then I want one too ... armchair comfort

You must be talking about a Honda Valkyrie with a grand's worth of extra chrome and leather upholstery.  The bike was a bit too much chrome and black paint for my taset, but I have to say the pillion perch looked pretty good.

One of those would NOT fit on the Bandit, so (tell ya what) we'll get a Pan 11 with pillion armchair for the cross-Europe runs, and I'll keep the Bandit for being silly on in the UK.

Deal?

(Note for the puzzled of this parish: Black Dog and Wannabeabiker are - er - chums.  Just been on holiday together and met a biking couple from Wrexham with the abovementioned cruiser, a trailer to follow, packed to the rafters with camping gear, including an 8-man tent (yes, 8-man tent, bigger than our caravan), kitchen, drinks cabinet, gym, swimming p ... OK, I'm exaggerating, but not much.  Awesome rig, but the best bit was the pillion chair on the Honda, which looked like a miniature armchair and as comfy as f*ck.  Nice couple, who we are going to meet up with somewhere on the Welsh coast when the summer arrives.  Wannabeabiker has the most inappropriate name going, as she Isalreadyabiker and should change her username toot-sweet.)

LOL, I have to say I was slightly befuddled!

Welcome to the forums wannabe. It's good to have you home BD, now I have my unappropriate, sexist remark making partner back... however LadyP and Ems seems to have dropped off the face of the forum.. I wonder where they've gone!

Cheers, Buddy!  Nice to be back.

Lady P's around, I know - she and her chap are possibly coming down our way in August, so if they do we will have to meet up for some sticky buns and a mug of nice strong tea.  Haven't seen anything of Ems.  Perhaps she told her Dad about the bike and he's cut off her allowance, or something.

As for being your partner in crime, regarding "inappropriate" references:

I think a mention of Lady P and "sticky buns" will do for now.

Fnarr.
