Bike adverts in the media. And by that I mean TV and Radio and in newspapers. You get car ads all the time, all over the place but I'm yet to see even one advert for a motorcycle. Not even a motorcycle shop is on there! Sure you find loads in bike specific media (here, MCN, Bike trader etc) but not on the box. Is there a reason for it?

Stuff everything, I've always got my bike.

| I would guess two reasons: 1. The size of the overall bike market doesn't justify advertising spend of the kind necessary to get ads into the national mainstream media. Selling a million Ford Focuses [1] generates more available income than a few thousand Kawasakis. 2. The target market is totally different. Cars are almost "general expenditure" for many people. To a lot of the population, they need a car, but they aren't that bothered which one. The marketplace is highly competitive, and major national ad spend is necessary to keep your name in the public eye and your products rolling out of the showrooms. The bike market is a lot more savvy, and purchasers are much more prepared to seek out the product they want - hence the specialist press - than to wait until the right offer comes along. For the manufacturers, their promotional budget is better spent in getting journalists to ride and recommend the bikes to their readers, than to place large speculative ads in the mainstream media. You're right, though. Just about the only bike ads I have ever seen in the national press are on the same page as Kevin Ash's column in the Saturday Daily Telegraph.

| I would say Focusi as the name of the car is a Focus. But then the plural for Abicus is Abici I believe. Good points BD, I always though it was something to do with the general public not wanting one. They have no idea what they're missing!!
