I almost got caught out with this scam too, there is a Harley Davidson FXDB Street Bob on UK Bike now, advertised at £2600 !! Tried calling the contact number with no answer, so sent an email to philholl@live.com, had response back from Andreas Applaw, 'andrebiker@hotmail.co.uk' saying that the bike was no longer in Tiverton but held at a shipping company in Peterhead and they would need to deliver the bike to me. However, I would not be happy to pay for a bike, even at this cheap price, without seeing and hearing it first !! I guess the saying is right, 'if it looks too good to be true it is' or as my boyfriend says 'if it's rat shaped and smells of rats it is a rat' !! It is a pity that UK Bike still allows these scammers to advertise with impunity.
Buyer Beware.

These scams are everywhere-here, on Ebay, everywhere. I've had several attempts by peeps at scamming me. Best one was a bloke supposedly in Canada. Nice email conversation. He even told me the time of day it was in Canada when I asked him. Strangely, it was exactly the same time as here in the UK. ****.
Be careful, never pay by Moneygram or Western Union, and see the bike first.

| I just came across this one http://www.ukbike.com/Yamaha_YZF-R1/SN3235325/ which I think is probably not in the strictest sense a scam, but the seller does seem to be trying to pass a 125 off as an R1 by calling it a YZF-R1 25

it is so amazing that these tossers are still trying to rip bikers off. Halcot shipping website is identical to the former feston shippingwebsite which is no longer available it seems and the same fraudulent address too.
Live long and ride free!

hello, Im from cologne and Im new here and I tried to buy an Bike from Uk announced in Friday-Ad.co.uk: .... and that´s happend:
Am xx. Jun 2010 um 16:43 from the Seller Andreas Applaw:
Hi,the bike is still for sale and as you can see on the pictures it is in a very good state. It was used only by me and I took care personally of it, I washed it meticulously after every ride and I changed the oil periodically. It`s HPI clear and will come with a full up to date Service History, Owner’s Manual, Log book and with two sets of keys.By the way, it is now stored in Peterhead with a shipping company and if you were to buy it, an agent would have to deliver it to your location.
Thank you,
Andreas
xx Jun 2010 from me:
Hello Andreas,
please let me know what the shipping will cost.
Do you have the CoC, the vehicle certification and the original invoice?
I am also thinking of coming to uk because of visiting Friends in London.
xx.Jun 2010 :from the seller
Hi,
The shipping cost will be around £120,I have the original invoice and the vehicle certification too. I signed an insurance policy and I paid in advance some money for the shipping fees. As soon as you make the payment to the shipping company through Western Union individual payment system, prior to delivery, my bike will be shipped to your location and you will have to test it and also sign the documents: the V5, the agreement for releasing the funds to me and other documents regarding delivery. In case that you would find something damaged at my bike I would assume myself the responsibility of getting it back on my own expense, but I don't think that something like this could happen because I really know what I own. If you were not happy with my bike, you would receive a full refund.
In order to go further with this transaction I need your name, address and also a valid phone number. After I will get those details I will forward them to the shipping company and an agent will contact you.
Thank you,
Andreas
xx.Jun 2010 from me:
Hi,... Whould it be possible for you to bring the Bike to London in a Friends Place? He will store the Bike there for me, until i come to London next Time.
I would send him the Money to give it directly to you.
xx.juli 2010 seller
Hi, If you don't mind, would you tell me what is the status of the transaction?
from a Shipping Agency:xx. Juli 2010
Per seller's request we have verified all the details of this transaction. We concluded that they are accurate. Please follow our instructions to complete the transaction safely.
The following vehicle(s) are protected in this Ability Shipping transaction:
Vehicle:
2006 Harley-Davidson FLSTCI Heritage
Condition:
Very good
Price:
£2,750.00
Shipping:
Shipping and insurance fees paid by the seller
Payment:
Pending
• Complete your Ability Shipping transaction in 5 easy steps:
Buyer and seller agree on the transaction terms and a selling price.
Seller contacts Ability Shipping with the transaction details, Ability Shipping accepts the transaction and offers purchase protection to the buyer (if the transaction is declined, no further action is required from either the buyer or the seller).
The buyer sends the payment in the name of our delegated shipping agent. After the payment is processed, we proceed with the shipping to your location. The buyer will send the payment details to support@ability-shipping.co.uk and these will be kept in our care until you confirm that the item received has no damage.
Buyer receives the vehicle and has two days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the vehicle. If he refuses the vehicle, the buyer must notify Ability Shipping to pick up the vehicle and return it back to the seller within two business days.
After the inspection period is over, the buyer must contact Ability Shipping with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the vehicle, a full refund will be sent to the buyer in maximum three days.
• Payment must be deposited by Western Union in the name of our shipping agent:
mail from me: xx.Juli 2010
hello, thanks for your mail.
the price of the bike is £ 2,550.00 and for me it is possible to pay only after the bike has arrived in London in my Friends Place.
It is also a technical check required.
This would be carried out within 15 minutes by a bicycle mechanic near my friends place.
According to this, and if all the papers I need for the bike there, clearing the way for the payment.
I apologize for the inconvenience, and hope for your understanding.
friendly regards
from the Seller: xx.juli 2010
Well, it seems that you are trying to have a laugh with me. First you told me that you agree to close the transaction in the way I suggesed, the paperwork has been signed and your name is on them. Now, you want me to change the terms of the contract. I can not encroach the terms I signed for. Can you understand this? Above all, you let me know after 3 days. Are you serious?
If the bike was not as described, the shipping company would not release the funds to me. Also you will have to give them the confirmation. It is up to you. If you want you can contact them tomorrow. Now I have to start my shift, so talk to your tomorrow.
Thank you for understanding.
and after this i read in your Forum....and I did not spend any mony for nothing:-) thanks a lot and take care...

Halcot Shipping & Andreas Applaw
Hi Guys, I have also been subject to these Bike scammers hovering UKBIKE! They Advertised a 'Honda Shadow 750VT 2007' back in May 2010 and contacted this 'Andreas' (andrebiker@hotmail.com) whom never gave me any contact details to talk things through which raised my suspicion and the fact that the Bike was 'stored' in a warehouse in Peterhead, Scotland. I was then instructed to make a cash payment to 'Halcot Shipping Ltd' via Western Union for them to delivery the bike to me without seeing it! WHAT A LOAD OF S**T!!!
1. Anyone can start up a registered 'Ltd' company at very small cost, for all we know they could be operating it from a damn shed!
2. Ask for landline numbers & mobile numbers and call them. I realised this was all a scam when I asked Halcot for 'Andreas's' mobile number and it exactly the same as theirs except for 2 numbers. This basically was hooked up to an answer phone and goes dead.
3. NEVER give a dime until you see and try the goods!
Play safe! G
