The XR1000 is my everyday lid. I think it is brilliant. I'd leave it white, but then am a bit of a boring old git ...

A white helmet can be seen a lot better than a sprayed up one. Mine is white as well and I like that it stands out as a plain lid. It's not often people look closely at eachothers lids as the bike is the pull usually. I might just stick a couple of those large eyes on the back of mine if I see them around but other than that its staying plain. Just my opinion though.

I tend to agree that white is a good colour for a lid. I once came round a corner (in the pitch dark, in heavy rain) to find a guy lying across the road, bike in a hedge, glass and plastic everywhere. I managed to stop in time - but it was a close thing. He was wearing black leathers, black boots, black gloves - and a white helmet. The helmet was the only thing I saw. Even after I had stopped, I wasn't quite sure where the guy was lying (in the rain everything looks shiny), but I knew where his head was. If he's been wearing a black one, I think I would probably have ridden right over him. And the truck behind me would have done too
Having said that, I have three matt-black lids and my daily Shoei, which is a white/grey/black pattern. So perhaps I orta shut up.
I do want a white Shoei Multitec for wearing while on the white Pan, though. It all adds to the effect!

| I've got an XR1000 in semi-metallic blue, which looks really quite good, but normally go for plain black and a vast array of stickers to personalise them. I'm not sure I'd want a completely decoration-free lid of any colour. However, I absolutely hate race-rep designs...I view them as being personal to the racer in question. I remember hugely offending some bikers up at Clackett Lane services once, when no less than three Kevin Schwantzes with a Kevin Schwantz pillion pulled up together...couldn't stop laughing. At them, not with them. But to address the original question, I've seen some good work from Big Nose Dragon, who are also the custom sprayers of choice recommended by my local dealer. They're down in Cornwall somewhere, and have a pretty comprehensive website at http://bignosedragon.co.uk.

"I do want a white Shoei Multitec for wearing while on the white Pan, though. It all adds to the effect! " You just want to look like a policeman BD! Next thing you will be adding those checker stickers to the sides and rear of your lid and reflectors to the bikes panelwork and panniers. Makes me slow down when ever I see a bike thats covered in those flourescent stickers and the helmet with checker strip around it, usually get out of its way expecting to see a blue light set too. Does also fool the car brigade to.

Well, I already have an ex-police high-vis jacket (only difference is the word 'police' removed) and it's just the thing on unlit busy A-roads at night in the winter. Cars get out of the way even when I am on the XT, and when I'm on the Pan it's like Moses and the Read Sea! But the highly-patterned non-white Shoei kind of gives it away. A white Multitec would complete the picture. I don't want to look like a copper (although there are plenty of Pan riders who do) but it is a bit of a larf, honestly.
