As has been said before, "sometimes it takes a whole tankful before me head is clear". Gentle bike rides are good at this sort of time - a bit of personal time, but with enough going on so that you don't get too morose. Cycling and walking do the same for me. I am an only child, so it all came down to me when my Mum went. It's only an observation, but the worst part of the whle thing was the relatives after the funeral. People who had been nice, reliable, kindly figures for decades suddenly turned into vultures and gannets, and I had to stop several of them just walking off with bits of Mum's stuff. This led to arguments and bad feeling which is still there, 7 years on. If you make some decisions about how things are to be distributed, it might prevent problems later. Just a thought. Ride steady, now

| Know I have not been around much lately but sorry to hear about your Dad Endo. I still grieve after both mine some 3 years after Dad and last July my mother. We were a very close familly. (Even had a dream last night about them!) To a nicer subject, I had a really great weekend! Went down to the Bikesafe show at the Peel centre in Hendon on Saterday afternoon and had my riding skills assessed! Imagine my surprise when the copper that took me (Andy from Leeds on his Police Pan European) told me he had enjoyed the ride and that he could see nothing really wrong with my riding skills. Made two mistakes, the 1st being a 60 in a 30 limit having thought that as we had entered the countryside again after a small village that I must have missed the de-restriction signs and the other was a lane sign that said be in the outside one for the direction that we wanted to head in and it then went into chevrons which I ran over before correcting my positioning? When we got back to the centre I apologised for my errors and to my surprise again Andy admited making the same mistakes (Both of them) the day before on his run through of the route. Got to go skiing yesterday as part of my Fathers day present. Ruth had bought me the lesson some years ago for a birthday and I had not used it, so my girls added to it and I had a 3 hour lesson at the snowzone here in MK.
Don't slide unless you mean too. Be sure, ride safe and enjoy

| Oh Endo, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You'll be in my thought as this difficult time. Sorry to hear your sisters bay's not worked out well, but not supprised at all. Mine was due to the pub bins & the location of the bay in the street. I took photo's of the bike parked in the bay & send them back to the council who agreed the bay was not appropriate in it's current location. I then got to choose where I wanted it put any 2 weeks later the old's been removed & the new one is where I wanted it. It might be worth your sister giving it a go too. I think the council just wanted me to go away, I am a persistant little bugger! I promise as soon as the video is released on the website I'll post a link to it, I have no idea why it's taken so long it's been approved & everything.

| Thanks again, folks. It's a funny old time: very busy (in bursts), but somehow there's less to do than you might imagine, considering you're tidying up someone's entire life. Or maybe that's just my interpretation! Anyhow, it's pretty much done now: funeral on Monday and flat clearance some time after. Luckily I get on well with my brother and sister and there isn't really anyone else with a vested interest. Since he left his flat to us and everything else to charity, it's not much of a problem to administer the estate! Didn't quite get the full tank of gas, but 3/4 was enough for a pleasant trip out. Still working on the old TDM, too - in times of turmoil it's quite nice to go and do some quiet manual labour for a couple of hours. Back to work tomorrow, as all the arrangements have been sorted I don't have much excuse not to! Good effort rebelman, nice to know you're still out there having fun! Also a good effort, Wilf - but I don't think it'll help in my sister's case. Her road runs perpendicular to the slope of the hill, so it's all at the same steep angle, abetted by some very poorly-cambered tarmac. Short of levelling it all, there's not much room for improvement there.

| Hi All, Sorry not been on for a while had a very interesting last two weeks. Endo - Hope you got everything sorted and your feeling a bit better! BD - Hope your wife is feeling better too! About my two weeks! Well last monday i took my first spill from my bike. Probably my own fault. Came round a bed a bit quickly when it had been drizzling, back wheel came out from beneath me, ended up on the pavement. Only a sprained ankle and bruised foot. That'll teach me i guess. Finally got over that then i get attacked by a bungee cord . Had my new helmet strapped to the back of my bike with it (took a knock on the head too when i came off, scratched it all). Got to work and undid one side, the other end of the cord decides to ping off and catch me on the eye brow ridge just above my eye. Got a right shiner now! Could have been a lot worse i guess. HAving my eye hanging off the hook would have been interesting had it been a cm lower!

Hey, bad luck Trick! Coming off the bike and smacking yourself in the face with a bungee are two things you would hope to only do once. Unfortunately, most people seems to take several goes before they learn Thanks for the good wishes about Mrs BD. She seems to be making some progress now. Slow and steady, but better that than the other way round, as it was for a while. Can't wait to see your video, Wilf, but I'm at work and they don't allow us to access p0rn sites I'll have to have a look later.

| Thanks, Trick. I'm quite together about it all, to be fair (probably an underdeveloped emotion gland or something...). Sounds like you've been having a rough few days - hope the bike's ok at least! A word to the wise - bungees are incredibly dangerous and annoying things, no matter how much you expect them to let go with outrageous violence, they'll always catch you by surprise when they do. I find cargo nets a much safer bet: more secure for carrying and the grips tend to be under less tension and on a shorter leash if they do twang loose. Good to hear Mrs BD's doing better as well, although I guess the French trip's definitely bollixed for this year? Southern Water obviously have some good toys to play with: actually, the scale of some of those projects makes me a little surprised my water rates aren't higher. Little disappointed at the lack of donkeys, though - I'm sure they were mentioned in the build-up to the video release! Good job of presenting, though, Wilf - it came across very well. If you ever feel the need to get up on stage and act, give us a shout - drama groups are always on the lookout to recruit!

Looks that way, yes. Originally the plan was to delay the bike trip until the autumn, but with the further problems it looks like it's not going to happen in 2009. Maybe next year. I think we will get away later this year, but it will be in the caravan, and possibly fairly local as she's not travelling well. Onwards and upwards!
Wilf, I loved the film! Definite babe potential. Don't tell Mrs BD I said that
