| Anyone with a few minutes spare time and a desire to have their input ignored should consider taking a look at the DfT "A Safer Way" consultation on http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/open/roadsafetyconsultation/. It's the paper laying out the third of the government's transport visions, covering - potentially - the next 20 years and focussing primarily on road safety. Of course, there is a heavy emphasis on speed, including some alarming desires to reduce yet more limits yet further. More alarming is the implied but not stated requirement for yet more surveillance to enforce and monitor it all. More sticks, still no carrots and another burgeoning mass of nanny-stateism, in my opinion. Anyway, I have no idea what weight my personal input carries (somehere between zero and none, I suspect), but if you don't speak up it certainly doesn't ever get heard! There's a multi-choice on-line questionnaire or you can e-mail a more in-depth statement if you wish. I had to, in order to make the point that I don't want the government to have a primary target to protect motorcyclists. One thing I'm very sure of is that it won't result in anything that improves life from the actual motorcyclist's perspective...!

Thanks for the link. I'll certainly make my input, although I suspect it will be like shouting up the Grand Canyon.
