Looks like game on for the Ally Pally, almost certainly on the Friday (it's more fun on a weekday than the weekend). Talked my handy satnav-substitute brother into the idea: as an ex-London-dizzy, he's a good bloke to follow around the smoke. I always get lost there, no matter how many times I've been to a particular place. Some sort of mental block, I guess. Apart from Wandsworth. I can usually find Wandsworth, whether I want to or not.

Likewise, Ian. Most likely to be found looking at all the shiny bits for sale at special show prices...not that anyone is likely to be carrying much of a stock of TDM or RF parts, given their total sales must've numbered about 20 in the UK, but one can always live in hope...

Well, not sure how to coment on the Ally Pally show! Nice to see you again Mike and to meet your brother too. As for the show saddly I thought it was a poor one. Maybe I expected too much for my £15.00? Seemed more like an autobike-jumble with a few groups in attendance like the Ace Cafe lot and the customising lot. Enfield, Husquvana and KTM were the only bike manufacturers there I think? Such a shame the rest did not deem the old place worthy of thier presence and that is a shame becouse I for one will not be spending another £15.00 on going to this show again unless there are major changes in the value for money stakes. I know I was not the only one thinking this as the guy's on the table where I sat to eat were saying the exact same thing. Such a great place, such a poor show.................

| Wasn't bad timing, that: we pulled up in the bike park, looked across about five feet and there was rebelman just turning off his ignition. Good to see you again, chap. Quite agree about the show - it was a disappointment, particularly compared to the days when it was THE Road Racing and Superbike show. I presume that honour now goes to the MCN Docklands effort. In all honesty, I would think two London shows within a few weeks of each other is too much, certainly for the exhibitors to resource both. Maybe this was just testing the water as far as attendance goes, but really, there would have to be a lot more announced for next time to justify a gate charge! There was a lot of empty space between stands, most of which had more of a car-boot atmosphere than a bike show... On the bright side, though: 1. It's still a nice venue and it was a good day for a proper ride 2. Must mention the guy running the "All Wicked Things" stall (sculpture made from bike and car parts) - top bloke and some fantastic stuff. If I could have carried three hundredweight of steel alien figure home, I'd probably have bought it on the spot... 3. We stopped off to say hi to ukbike's own friendly Binny, who was doing a fine job of charming all the passing punters 4. My Scottoiler finally primed itself properly and is working like a charm now.
