Hi all,

im afraid i've been rude enough to not introduce myself. Seeing as you lot have already answered my questions, and i'm sure there will be more in the future i might as well let you know a bit about me!

I'm originally from Colchester, UK, affectionatly known as daarnn saarf (attempt at writing in a essex boy accent)! I moved to leeds just after turning 18 (mostly to get away from my family) with my partner Ali (short for Allanah). Me and the Mrs (her new name!) both got steady jobs and a flat and live quite comfortably.

Neither of us drive which is why we are getting motorbikes! It is apparent that riding a bike is much cheaper, more fun and just damn cooler than a car! I first got the bug when i was about 7, i got the back of my friends big brothers scrambler (not helmet or anything) and got a quick tour of a field. Since then i have allways wanted a bike, but have either not had the money, or wanted to spend it else where! Hopefully i'll be taking my CBT december ish (bit cold buy oh well), and be buying my bike in january along with moving into a house!

At the ripe old age of 20 i got married (1 month ago in fact).

Also i'm a giant geek! I play the Xbox 360, PC, Tabletop war games and like geeky stuff like gadgets!

Look forward many more postings!

Btw from what i can tell its a very small community on here 6 of you?

6! I did not know there were 6 of us. Blimey. You will find a wealth of knowledge in here thats for sure, from guy's who have been there and worn the t-shirt out. I am a returning old boy myself who's wife is still not sure about boarding the pillion. Trying at the moment to borrow a lid so we can have a go around the village we live in. Just hope I don't dump her at the 1st corner. Won't do the Mrs any good either.

Don't slide unless you mean too.

Be sure, ride safe and enjoy

I'm fairly sure there's only one of me...well, usually, anyhow.

It's probably a case of quality over quantity, although some more regulars would be most welcome: there do seem to be a fair few who post a couple of times than are never heard of again. Perhaps they're put off by a fairly quiet forum...?

You're not wrong about bikes being the only way to travel - been riding since the eighties, meself, and haven't owned a car since 1991. Never missed 'em either: there isn't much you can't do on/with a bike if you put your mind to it.

I'm far too old and dignified to get into the fanboy argument (!), but Mazz is right - PS3 is the way to go...sell the XBox, mate, and come over to the side of Good! Maybe we need an e-games thread somewhere to explore the subject more thoroughly. Geeks welcome, but no Star Trek, alright?!!!

Congrats on the recent wedding, too.

PS: Rebelman - any idea what size Mrs Reb takes? I've got a surplus 53 (XS, a little scratched but fully serviceable) if that's any use to you? Or random, come to that. Happy to post it your way, or bring it over to Brightona next weekend.

I'm afraid i may have to disagree on the whole console point.

Value for money the xbox wins hands down! It may not have the 40 odd gb disks but it does its job

However you do have to pay to play online, which is a bummer. Plus if i buy a PS3 now, i wont be buying a bike

Star Trek is a big no no for me as well, best sci fi series i have seen so far has to be FireFly.

Thank you for the warm reception!

The bike's more important...!

I'm not so sure about the XBox value for money - it adds up to about the same as a PS3 if you bring it up to the same spec. On the other hand, you are spared the truly awful PlayStation Network and console interface...anyhow, as long as it plays games, that's good enough. They're pretty much all dual-platform nowadays anyway. Brand loyalty is a lot of it: I've had Sony since the PSOne first came out - kept with it as much for backwards compatibility as anything.

FireFly was good, as was Serenity - I'm far more into movies than TV series, to be fair. Be hard pushed to name an actual favourite, but the works of Carpenter, Cameron (except Titanic, of course) and Scott would be right up there...

I've had this discussion with many friends who bought an Xbox.... 3 of them moved over to PS3

Ok, the PS3 is more expensive but as time goes on, the games will get better and better. Currently, developers are only tapping 30-40% of the true potential of the PS3. That's because Sony made a console that was so powerful (7 processors!) that they don't know how to get all of it!!

Xbox does win the price war. I've seen it on TV for £129.99 where as the PS is still £300. But, when you look at the spec of the consoles, you'd be getting more value out of a PS3. Sony won the Blu-Ray / HD DVD war so Xboxers will need another drive to play Blu-Ray disks (and currently, the PS3 is the cheapest BR player out there!)

No online gaming fees.

No smeg ups. Out of all the problems my friends found on the Xbox, those 3 red lights were the number 1 issue.

Sorry, but for me it's the PS3 mate, everytime! I envy you having Ace Combat 6 though..... bloody Namco!!!!

As for geeky Sci-Fi.......... Star Wars. Cliched maybe but I love it! Oh, and Battlestar galactica!!

Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer ... in gold!

Ride safe, and look out for the Rainbow of Death!
