Well I think I got it all sorted now. I've had test ride on triumph speed triple, I liked I reached the floor and is all I need bike wise. FZ1 was good but like the idea of having an almost british bike

| Does Hoov get a prize for suggesting Speed Triple? Appearances must be quite deceptive - I've not ridden one, but they always gave me the impression of being quite tall bikes. Nice to look at, though, and they do make a good noise!

| Hi everyone, well I decided in the end for a VFR 800 V-tech. Does all I want it too. Nice range on full tank of juice, comfort level not a back breaker, still looks sporty and can manage just to reach the floor. It doesn't do anything brilliantly but then again it doesn't do anything badly either. Cheers for your help and finally got sorted

| Glad to hear you've got what you wanted. Looking back, I'm quite surprised no-one mentioned VFRs - they usually come up in every which-big-bike thread! I've had a couple of 750s myself, didn't spring to mind immediately as being low to the ground, but actually, thinking about it, the sit in rather than on position is deceptive like that (- think the 800s were slightly taller, though). But that's VFRs for you: deceptively brilliant in almost all departments. You hear different things about the effectiveness of the V-TEC system, with some people criticising the sub-7000 rpm 2-valve opening smoothness: what do you reckon to it?
