I have had 2 Harley's, bought this one nearly 2 years ago now.
Im getting on a bit and love speed, however 2 collapsed disks in my neck stopped me riding sports bikes, so now I have had to slow down a bit.
The new breed of fuel injected Harley needs to be ridden to be believed. I will take on most bikes from a standing start, the only trouble is after 60 mph they have caught up and start to pass me. Thats OK I was starting to slow down any way!
I can't be doing with the HOG members Sunday rides, over here, the look like a band of boy scouts and only drink tea and pop on their ride outs.
I ride alone and love it! occasionally some close friends do join me, but lets face it when your on a bike you don't talk to other people while your riding do you?
Personally, I want to go where I want to go, I want to stop when I want to stop and when I've had enough I head for the nearest pub or I park up at home and have several beers at the local!

| Hello Blenk, good on yer mate, there is an argument for riding as a collective and it seems to suit the Harley thing that most riders seem to buy into, good for them if thats want they want to do, they're riding bikes. Personally I tend to be with you on the solo riding, or at the most 2 -3 other riders who you know and trust occasionally. You don't have to worry about anybody else, or wait for people to have fag breaks, **** breaks, forgot to fuel up breaks, coffee breaks, waiting for people generally, own place, own journey, own space, own thoughts, good to see other people at the end of the journey though. I recently rode the 1200 Nightster and found it quite diminutive for a large capacity cruiser, but once I realised that I should stop trying to ride it like a sportsbike it wasn't too bad. The Buell was a blast by comparison, similar engine but way different bike.

| I'm for the solo stuff, meself. Partly because the Sussex massive is a) not that massive and b) difficult to organise to be anywhere at even approximately the same time. Just about manage it for race meetings, as a rule; the rest of the time I prefer to ride around unencumbered by cares about anyone else. Don't go much for cruisers, I have to say, but it's refreshing to know there are people around who buy the bike but not the lifestyle. I was immensely disappointed accompanying a Harley-riding mate to the dealership in Dorchester once: the tat on display for fairly serious money was quite staggering. I mean, who in their right mind would need to own an H-D branded spoke brush?

I agree, and sometimes good mates do come along.
But when I stop to take in the moment, I don't want the others to think I have broken down and come back looking for me.
Its good to have some moments without interruptions and reflect, not thinking about work, wives (Im on my fourth), kids, money and the like.
Don't get me wrong I am a party animal, life and sole at most bashes, I love to be surrounded by people when I go out.
But sometimes .............................................

| Looks like I may have seriously underestimated the spoke brush market. This may be one reason why Harley make millions and I - well - don't. For the genuinely curious amongst you: it's part 43078-99, rrp £11.33 and looks like this:
Bet you're wondering how you ever lived without one, now...

| Sadly not. That said, even my Harley-branded-wardrobe Harley-riding mate thought it was taking things a bit far and declined to buy one.

The forecast here on Jersey tomorrow is overcast, however I will still get out for a ride. Only heavy rain will stop me on my day off.
Not like the rich HOG brigade over here, if they see a cloud they stay in (they might get their money wet).
I have weather proofs for the rain in my bags, may as well use them eh!
