You want confidence... try riding in this weather!! (TUE 15th JAN)

It's so bad out there that visability is right down with spray from the road. If you want to gain skill in the wet I think today is your best bet. Just be extra carefull as car drivers seem to think they can drive normally in this weather and usually crash.... don' be part of it!

Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer ... in gold!

Ride safe, and look out for the Rainbow of Death!

There're only 3 kinds of people in the world, those who can count, and those that can't.

Roses are red, Violets are Blue, I'm a schizophrenic ..... and so am I!

Take pity on the man who invented the drawing board, when he screwed up, he had nothing to fall back on.

Stuff everything, I've always got my bike.

The weather here (W Wales) has been dreadful.  (Nothing new there, then.)  I take your point, though.  Riding a bike in conditions like this can be dodgy - a combination of dark evenings/mornings, rain/spray, and a load of unhappy car drivers with get-home-itis, and the possibilities for an accident are greater.  I think Mazz's point is a good one - if you're fairly confident, then riding through the winter keeps you skill level up and you're ready for it when we finally see some sunshine and a bit of dry tarmac.  But I wouldn't like to send anyone out in these conditions to "toughen them up" as it were.  I regard myself as an all-weather biker, but to be honest, the combination of a narrow and crowded A-road, dark mornings and evenings, wet weather, cold and a lot of slippery mud on the road for the last half-mile of the journey has kept me in the car more often than not.

The weather today wasn't too bad. A bit windy down here in the south, but i'm so happy it wasn't raining!!! There were a few patches of mud i had to avoid though, although i didn't come across any horse poo!!  :p

I started riding 30yrs ago.Had a 15yr break, then got on a bike again about two and a half years ago.

I was nervous at the thought of going out on the road. But so I badly wanted to get back into biking that I made myself just get on with it. I am a more cautious rider than I was 20yrs ago. But that's probably a good thing.  Now I have kids who would like me home in one piece.

Ems when you get to BD's age you like having the house to yourself too!   Must say though that my girls keep asking when I am going to take Ruth on the back of the bike. I think they have a hidden agenda LOL

Don't slide unless you mean too.

Be sure, ride safe and enjoy

Positive. They'd hate to wash their own clothes or make their own meals.
