They will need replacing before too long, so I'm up for a bit of advice.

I quite fancy the Continental TKC80s, although I have to admit this is for the looks more than anything. I don't do any serious off-roading, just the occasional bit of light green-laning. Most of the mileage is the daily commute on main and back roads, wet and dry, clean and filthy/muddy depending on the weather and what the farmers are carrying about this week. A few big names come to mind:

Michelin Anakee
Dunlop Trailmax
Avon Distanzia
Metzeler Enduro 3
Michelin Sirac
Metzeler Tourance

I have heard both good and bad about all of these. I suppose if I ignore the looks, then what I am after is grip on the tarmac. Mileage is secondary. But if anyone told me that the Contis were OK on the road, then I'd probably go for them Bear in mind that my only big off was on knobblies in the wet, though - I get nervous around big gaps in the tread

Endo - have you any pearls to offer on this one? Or anyone else? All suggestions welcome.

mini moto carb

hey guys need a little help what it is my mate has a mini moto and i been doing an engine rebuild on it but there seems to be summat up with the carb it is leaking petrol big time from somewhere now i had check all the gasket seals they are sound theres nothing wrong with those i have checked the petrol tap seal thats fine and i checked the float chamber the valve stop and the jets and they all seem ok to me there doesn't look anything wrong but it is still leaking petrol anybody got any ideas ??

UKBike.com are looking for blog writers!

Hi everyone, I'm Tom from the UKBike.com team.

We are looking to launch our new blog soon, which will highlight the latest bike reviews, news and video items, information on UK bike events, and updates from UKBike.com.

Our blog is also a platform for quality writing. We're looking for bike riders who can regularly turn their stories, thoughts, bike reviews, and most of all their passion for motorbikes into words.

UKBike.com is the UK's leading motorbike reviews site - in August alone we had 90,000 individual visitors. Today there are 4,401 bike reviews in our archive, and we'd really like to bring the qualities of these reviews to our new blog.

If you're interested in writing for UKBike.com, then please drop me an e-mail at tom@ukbike.com or leave a private message through this site. Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers

Tom @ UKBike.com

Oops I did it again

My name is Black Dog and I am a bikeoholic.

When the spring came, and I spent a pleasant afternoon removing all the winter corrosion-preventing greases and coatings from the Ducati (from which it emerged, I am pleased to say, looking pretty much brand-new), I made a mental note that next winter I would not be campaigning the Duke through the moisture, salt, mud and general grot that is my Welsh winter commute. It would be just too cruel to what is, essentially, a very nice fine weather bike. And the cleaning regime was pretty demanding.

So yesterday I drove the width of the UK and back to pick up a very sound but tatty XT600E. This will be ideal for winter duties. It starts on the button, is mechanically sound, and low mileage for its age (17K in 13 years, backed up by all the past MoT certificates), but scruffy enough for me not to worry about leaving it dirty or dropping it now and then.

The idea is that I will start to use it when the weather gets bad, around October time. The Duke will be cleaned, polished, waxed, oiled and greased, and then left in the garage on a trickle charge until the Spring. One problem - I went out for a blast on the XT this morning (just to check everything was OK, you understand) and it was a complete hoot. So much so, that I think I will commute on it for a week or two, just to get a picture of the condition of the running parts so that I can make sure it will be fit for the winter. Oh, and the odd green lane trip. And the days when you just don't want to go fast, but take your time and smell the breeze. And of course, it's easier to barge through traffic, so I will be doing the odd shopping trip on it, and - you get the picture.

This is my fourth XT, and I love 'em.

Nurse!

mini moto dont work

hi have recently bought a mini moto of ebay rode it a couple of times and know it starts for a wile and cuts of or somtimes it stays on but when i rev it it cuts of can any 1 help me

SCAM ALERT

The website
ATVUSED.T75.com
which advertises on this site is part of an international scam operation. They are offering non-existent quad bikes for sale

At present the email of the "salesman" is:
brooke.timothy@yahoo.com (those emails come from the USA)

He will advise you that the shipping company will be in touch and that your money will be placed in escrow until your bike is deliverd and you are happy with it.

The website of the shipping company is:
international-shipping-express.com
the site is offline at present. It quotes its office addresses as being the same as UPS, it also quotes the UPS company registration number. It is, of course nothing to do with UPS.

They have been very successful in Canada and the UK so far we have been told about £73k worth of fraud, the whole set up is very convincing.

This was all discovered by a report to our website wevet.com. If you have a scam you would like known and pursued or indeed to praise any business let us know.

rm80

i have got a rm80 the bike is 1989 with a 1985 carb on it do anyone no where i can get a carb or mixing screw from i have look everwhere or has anyone got sparts or repairs or no of any phones numbers i can ring

dt125

hi i got a dt 125cc off road bike 1982/83 i need exhurst for the bike i have look everywhere for one do anyone have one or no where i can get one from if you can please let me know i really need one as i want to get back riding again if u no any websites please let me know thanks

information

ok guys hi what am planning to do might seem a little crazy but im sure it can be done anyways lets cut to the chase lol i have in the garage a mini moto frame but it has no engine but i do have a thumper 110cc engine spare and i am thinking about dropping that into the mini moto frame lol i know sounds crazy but i am a speed freak and lets face it the weight of a mini moto with a thumper 110 engine in it aint exactly gonna be slow is it lol anyways i was just wondering if you guys could give me some feedback on what i am planning to do

new boy

hi all new to the forum just wanna say hi

Website for Yam XT fans

Since I've been contemplating getting an XT, I have been reading a lot of forums on the interwebthing. The best I've found so far is www.yam-xt.com. It's friendly and informal, with a lot of contributors from all over the world. It's a one-make forum (Yamaha XT660X and XT660R, the current supermoto and enduro machines from the old tuning fork company) but there's plenty of discussion on all matters related to UK biking, a section for jokes and humour, and a lot of very good technical advice. Well worth a visit.

I think I am the only UKBike member on there at the moment, so if anyone wishes to join me, I'd appreciate the company!
