Both Craig Richey and Yohan Patry participated at the 2011 UCI World Championships held in St-Wendel orbea jersey , Germany. Richey finished 46th in the elite men's race, while Patry finished 21st in the junior men's race.

Richey is looking forward to the challenges the course on the west coast of Belgium will provide. "The Koksijde course can be summed up in one word: sand. Koksijde is like nothing we have in North America with deep sand rut riding, lots of running, and at least six dismounts a lap."

In the under 23 men's race, Félix Bouvette will be attending his first Worlds rock racing jersey . Bouvette, along with Richey and Patry, will be competing in the final two World Cup rounds to prepare for the event.

In the junior men's race, Canada will have two riders expected to take the start: Patry will be joined by Samuel Beaudoin of Edmonton. Beaudoin, who was fourth at Canadian Cyclo-cross Championships, will be competing in his first world championships.

"My experience from last year helped me a lot in my preparations for this year, I know exactly what I need to do in order to be ready for these Worlds rock racing cycling jerseys ," said Patry. "I'm feeling really strong now, both technically and physically and I don't think that the level I have now would have been possible to reach without the experience I acquired last year."

Canada's top ranked rider in the world is Geoff Kabush in 63rd place. Kabush will not participate at the world championships in Belgium.

Switzerland wills end four elite men, three elite women cofidis jerseys , four under 23 men and two junior men to the start line at Worlds.

Czech rider Zdenek Stybar is the outgoing World Champion in the elite men's race, while Marianne Vos of the Netherlands will be defending her title in the elite women's race bmc cycling jerseys .
Go Karting day

Ok, so it's not actually motorcycling but I think it's worth mentioning on here so you all know.

I'm trying to sort out a weekend at the end of FEB to go Go-Karting. I have a few of my mates interested already but I was wondering if anyone here would like to come along too.

It's in Albourne, just south of Sayers Common, North of Brighton. Partly that was to see how consistent the results from the Phillip Island opener turned out to be, partly it was just idleness...

Eurosport again have the broadcast rights (a good thing for anyone with satellite or cable, at any rate) and the rather fine commentary team of Whitham and Burnicle are back. Hoorah. Sadly, Tony Carter still gets a lot of studio time in which to bore viewers rigid, but at least some of his guests are worth listening to (Chris Walker and James Haydon last time out).

So, not unexpectedly, Haga and the Xerox Ducati are both on form and favourites for the title - although it must be said the Duke, oversize engine or not, doesn't look that fast out on track.

Ben Spies, graduating from back to back AMA titles, has proved to be disturbingly brilliant. Guess the much-hyped cross-plane crank of the Yamaha isn't just hot air. I'm surprised, given the pitifully uncompetitive nature of AMA that he's done so well against the WSB crowd already. Still don't like the bloke, though: he comes across as a dull corporate spokesperson who belongs in MotoGP withthe other product placement boys.

Biggest surprise so far is perhaps Biaggi on board the new Aprilia RSV4. That is a sorted little motorcycle (little being the operative word - it makes Max look normal-sized). Considering their last venture into racing was the evil and disastrous MotoGP Cube, lessons have obviously been learned. There again, the old WSB RSV twin of several years ago had its' moments (Troy Corser taking it to a debut victory, for example), so maybe road-based racing is their forte.

Speaking of Corser, he's made brave showings on the all-new BMW, only gradually fading back as the races have proceeded. For a completely new machine, that's not bad at all and I think Troy's the man to develop it over the season: could well be a challenger later in the year.

The grid is quite full of Britons: Haslam, Sykes, Byrne, Hill and Rea - all of whom have consistently managed points (well, Byrne got a double DNF in Australia but got back into it in Qatar) and Haslam on the Stiggy bike has already managed a podium. Good efforts all round, chaps.

The racing itself looks to be shaping up well: all four events so far have been close affairs with plenty of dicing throughout the field. I'd predict the rest of the year is likely to be just as competitive and entertaining - bring it on. I would also predict Haga for the championship, but that'll just put the whammy on his hopes, so all we'll say at this point is that - for the first time in years - he hasn't given a huge points lead to his competitors at the start of the season. In fact, he's leading...

Results:

Australia (Phillip Island) Race 1: Haga (Ducati), Neukirchner (Suzuki), Kagayama (Suzuki)

Australia (Phillip Island) Race 2: Spies (Yamaha), Haga (Ducati), Haslam (Honda)

Qatar (Losail) Race 1: Spies (Yamaha), Haga (Ducati), Biaggi (Aprilia)

Qatar (Losail) Race 2: Spies (Yamaha), Haga (Ducati), Biaggi (Aprilia)

Obviously, a pretty good mix of riders and bikes up front. Nearly there were: Checa, Kiyonari, Nakano, Laconi and Fabrizio plus several of the aforementioned Brits. It's looking good...

WSB 2008

Three rounds in to the series and it's all still open to debate...

Except, possibly, for Bayliss romping away at the front. He has the look of a man who is destined to win, I would have to say, ably aided and abetted by every one of his main rivals being noticeably inconsistent. It may be that, with so much talent vying in the grid, it'll be the battle for runner-up that is hardest fought.

Biggest surprise so far is that the Ducati isn't completely steamrollering the opposition. It isn't even eligible for a weight penalty. Could it be that the Italians weren't exaggerating when they said they needed the extra 200cc to be competitive? Or are they going to be turning the screws later in the season with a bit more development under their belts? Certainly the fours were fast enough on the day: only Checa's comedy wipe-out of Neukirchner stopped the results looking distinctly unfavourable to Ducati. You have to feel for Neukirchner, being on the receiving end of someone else's accident after 22.9 laps in the lead. Looked like he might have done something terrible to his foot, too - they didn't say on the commentary - but apparently it was actually his collarbone he busted. Hope he's fit for Assen.

Accidents aside, I have to say the ex-GP blokes are looking good as challengers - Biaggi obviously has form already, but Checa and Nieto are both showing well. Good to see Kiyo on something like pace as well.

The only bad thing to be said about the event were the Eurosport commenters; Burnicle & Whitham were at the snowed-off BSB, so we had a couple of somewhat duff amateurs trying to keep track of which Troy was which and injecting a dose of dullness not heard since Roger Burnett hung up his earphones...

For all that, it's still worth buying satellite just to get the bike racing!

MotoGP 2008

So, 3 rounds gone and the only real certainty is that the form book's still well out the window.

Bridgestone are looking to have taken significant steps backwards, noticeably down on grip at the beginning - and more down on grip by the end - of the race compared to Michelins.

Similarly, Ducati look to have returned to the non-form of a few years ago, only Stoner clawing his way to some sort of respectable points tally.

Pneumatic valves do seem to have helped Yamaha a bit, but not enough to hold off the "antique" spring-valve engines. And Toseland did less well with the new engine than the old.

So, Rossi's a victim of tyre problems, Stoner's a victim of bike AND tyre problems, the Pedrobot has neither but isn't getting it all his own way. Kawasaki are still waiting for this year's engine, Suzuki haven't seen a track they like yet...could be that Lorenzo really is the class of the field.

It's a long season, though and you would have to believe that it will settle down, perhaps even soon enough to make a real contest of the championship:

Estoril - 1st: Lorenzo, 2nd: Pedrosa, 3rd: Rossi, 4th: Edwards, 5th: Hopkins.

Championship lead tied at 61: Lorenzo/Pedrosa, 3rd: Rossi (47), 4th: Stoner (40), 5th: Toseland (29).

Next round at China: probably not a place to bet against Rossi winning...

BSB 2008

Unlucky to anyone who actually made it to Brands for the snowed-off season opener. Still, Thruxton made up for it. Couldn't go this year, unfortunately, but it's thoroughly recommended for anyone who wants to go to a meet. Brands is better for facilities and gives more of a view of the track, but Thruxton's not far behind.

So, Shakey and the new Ducati open with a double. Sounds a bit like WSB, that! I'm still not convinced the Ducati has no unfair advantages - they may not be any faster at the top end than the fours, but it's how they get there that counts. That was always the problem with the 750cc fours versus the litre Dukes: history repeating itself?

Now that James Haydon's retired, is there an unluckier racer in the business than Karl Harris? Presumably he can't actually remember what it's like to ride uninjured! Even minding his own business in race 1: Sykes has an orbital highside in front of him and Harris gets to stop the wayward and airborne Rizla Suzuki with his face. Unbelievable that he got away with it.*

* In a manner of speaking. Ever noticed how commentators watch somebody plough off track at a zillion miles an hour, rag-doll through the gravel traps and slam to a broken halt against the air fence before coming up with: "Well, he was lucky to get away with that!". Think you'll find he didn't, chaps. "Getting away with it" would be NOT crashing at all...

TRACK DAY/VS MOTO GP

You want to watch the First Motogp test in januar? then take out your own bike at the Sepang Circuit for 5 days ?

Full package, Plane, shipping from UK, hotel, meals, etc

Go to www.racecamp.no for contact

UKBike.com are looking for blog writers!

Hi everyone, I'm Tom from the UKBike.com team.

We are looking to launch our new blog soon, which will highlight the latest bike reviews, news and video items, information on UK bike events, and updates from UKBike.com.

Our blog is also a platform for quality writing. So with the '08 seasons getting underway, is there much point in firing up some threads? If so, what are people interested in?
In case anyone does care, I think I have to vote fanatical: just finished watching the series of 1980s Grand Prix reviews, which have finally reached DVD release. Awesome footage, thoroughly recommended. As has been the opening couple of WSB rounds: probably too early in the Ducati 1098's evolution for it to turn into a complete whitewash (should that be redwash?) yet. MotoGP kicks off this weekend and BSB first week in April.

So...?

Bike Animalette 2008

hy all, i have neterd a competition to be the bike animalette 2008 in the brirish superbikes. i dont normally enter competitions like this coz once the hot models put on half naked pictures i have no hope of winning votes.however i enterd this one because i was grid girl a bit last year in the bsb and had so much fun i wanna get there agin this year.my pictures arnt model pics with tits n **** out ecasue i am not a model, just a bike and racing enthusiast who would love to get some votes over the other models and make it into the paddock this year.

please vote for me at http://www.bikeanimal.com/bike_animalette_entries.asp

all votes would be greatly appreciated thanks

BSB

Round 1

Mar 26

BRANDS HATCH (INDY)

Round 2

Apr 09

DONINGTON PARK

Round 3

Apr 17

THRUXTON

Round 4

May 01

OULTON PARK

Round 5

May 21

MONDELLO PARK

Round 6

Jun 04

MALLORY PARK

Round 7

Jun 18

SNETTERTON

Round 8

Jul 16

KNOCKHILL

Round 9

Jul 23

OULTON PARK

Round 10

Aug 13

CROFT

Round 11

Aug 28

CADWELL

Round 12

Sep 17

SILVERSTONE

Round 13

Oct 01

BRANDS HATCH (GP)

BRANDS HATCH RACING QUIZ WITH STEVE PARRISH

The Racing part of the forum seems dead for a while so thought I'd add this, if you're interested, please use the details below or send me an email , thanks;

<SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; Can he be caught. After the race yesterday, commentators were saying he's already won! With no real contender anywhere him, it would seem this assumption is in fact a reality. The only way for him to be caught is if he has a disasterous set of races and Rossi wins them all... which won't happen... will it?

Rossi is having a hell of a time on the Yamaha. I don't hink it's him or the bike, but Michelin. Everytime I hear he's doing badly, it's always the tyres that are to blame. Now, I'm not sure if they (the commentators) are telling the truth, or if they're jus covering for him, but it would seem that his tyre problems only really affect him. Capirossi, Vermulan and de Puniet went past him yesterday and he didn't seem to be putting up much of a fight. He got de Puniet back and crossed the line in 7th.

Edwards... Who? What is happeneing with him? He just can't seem to sort out it endless run of bad luck. He dominated the WSB Championship a few years back and since his move to MotoGP he just can't seem to keep up the pace.

Haydon made a come back charge but I think it's safe to say that he won't retain his title. Honda really messed up at the beginning of the season but now, with the new parts, they're on a come back with Haydon and Pedrosa finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.

Tech 3 Yamaha are getting a new rider for 2008... James Toseland! The first Brit since Hodgeson and Byrne to tackle the top flight. Lets hope he can fight at the top and win a few. I remember him saying he would only go across to MotoGP if he had a good team to go over to. The Tech 3 Yamaha team have come along in leaps and bounds but still cannot touch the top riders of the field. Seems a strange move but it's one he's taking so get the flags ready and start making those banners!!

The Moto GP Rumor Mill

Well, not exactly a rumor mill but it sounds cool!

Well, we all know about Hopper moving to the Green Giants Kawasaki. This is quite a bold move by him as Kwak are yet to fully prove themselves, but they're making a lot of progress and it wouldn't surprise me if they got podiums next season with Hopper on board. Also from the Kwak camp comes news of a 3rd bike. The factory team have said they might run a 3rd bike in the top flight next year. Makes you wonder who would make a move there to ride for them...

Melandri moves from the Honda satallite team, and Elias, to pair up with Stoner at Ducati. Next season shapes up nicely for them as both are young and hard riders. I think our screens will be full of them next year as both have championship winning machines and both have the ability to win.

Capirossi is have a hard time of it. He's upset with Ducati for not telling him about the move of Melandri and only found out through a news conference. Ducati were rumored to have offered him a ride for them but on the D'Antin Ducati... quite rightly he said no. Now currently in talks with Suzuki to fill the hole left by Hopper and Kwak for the 3rd bike ride (above)

Well, this is what I've heard / found out. Anything else out there?

Hopkins move?

Home Page news!

Hopo is to move to Kawasaki for the 2008 season. Looks like green is his colour! Green bike, leathers... lining his pockets.

Credit were it's due though, the Kwaks have been showing strong signs of improvment. Look at the first few laps of Le Man. 2 new (I say new... new to the front) riders headed the race until the weather caused their demise. One was a Honda (I think!) and the other, the Kwak of de Puniet. You could argue that he's French and it was his home curcuit, but it was still a grea performance from the Factory Kawasaki team all round.

2007 is shaping up to be a rollercoaster with Stoner going to Ducati and leading the championship, Haydon and Honda starting to loose grip of the front page and Edwards' future looks bleak if he carries on the way he's going.

2008 might be just as interesting. With the ever developing Kwaks with a top flight rider in Hoppo, could we see the Factory Honda team running dramatically behind? Pedrosa is doing his best but it's not enough. Not a single win for Honda this year, and to see them on the Podium is rare. Are we seeing a fall from grace or a blip in Honda that is ironing itself out?

MotoGP

Round 1

Mar 26

JEREZ (Spain)

Round 2

Apr 08

LOSAIL (Qatar)

Round 3

May 30

ISTANBUL (Turkey)

Round 4

May 14

SHANGHAI (China)

Round 5

May 21

LE MANS (France)

Round 6

Jun 04

MUGELLO (Italy)

Round 7

Jun 18

CATALUNYA (Spain)

Round 8

Jun 24

ASSEN (Holland)

Round 9

Jul 02

DONINGTON PARK (GB)

Round 10

Jul 16

SACHSENRING (Germany)

Round 11

Jul 23

LAGUNA SECA (USA)

Round 12

Aug 20

BRNO (Czech Republic)

Round 13

Sep 10

SEPANG (Malaysia)

Round 14

Sep 17

PHILLIP ISLAND (Australia)

Round 15

Sep 24

MOTEGI (Japan)

Round 16

Oct 15

ESTORIL (Portugal)

Round 17

Oct 29

VALENCIA (Spain)

Just so you all know the dates for this years season

MotoGP

The new season is set to start in March and I can't wait! It'll have to be one hell of a season to top the one just gone but I think we're in for a few treats.

For one, I think we'll be seeing Danny Pedrosa up there challenging for the title. Call me stupid if you want but I seriously think he has a decent chance.

The new 800's suit his style and mass, proven with the fact he was fastest in testing, beating Haydon and Rossi.

Now, I'm no great fan of Pedrosa, (to be honest I'm not a great fan of anyone, I just love watching the racing) but I'd like to see him really fighting for the top spot. Have a new winner up there taking the glory. You never know, he might even smile!

Do you have any predictions or someone you think we should keep an eye out for next season? Having played Paintball for about 3 years I know what it's like to be addicted and spend all your money on it!

I'm really looking at Racing now though. I've stopped the Paintball and am now looking to pursue one my all time dreams, racing.

I was thinking of starting small and working my way. When I say small, I mean small.... Minimotos! I''ve seen a few around around and they look like great fun and an inexpensive way to get into motorsport. Hopefully I can gain experiance, look around a bit and move up from there.

Has anyone got any info on websites or organisations I could contact regarding this?
